Celebrate Canada Day with Electric Bikes

July first holds a special place in the hearts of Canadians worldwide as they celebrate Canada day. While the Americans celebrate their independence on the Fourth of July, Canadians celebrate their national day on the first of july.

Before it was called “Canada Day,” July 1 was called “Dominion Day,” and it was established as a public holiday in 1879. And on October 27, 1982, Canada day became the official term for the first of July even though it had been called for decades. Back then the country’s name was the Dominion of Canada. But the “Dominion of Canada” didn’t occupy the whole land area as of today. Back then there were only four provinces (Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick).

Did You Know?

Dominion of Canada bought Rupert’s Land from the Hudson’s Bay Company for $1.5M Canadian Dollar (300,000 British pound Sterling). In terms of land area, it is the largest real estate transaction in Canadian history. Rupert’s Land was named after the first Hudson Bay Company’s first governor, Prince Rupert. The purchase of the Rupert’s Land expanded the Dominion of Canada geographically.

Today, electric bike (e-bike) riders can enjoy a wide variety of terrain across 10 provinces and 3 territories!

What Activities Can You Do To Enjoy Canada Day

Canada Day is commonly celebrated with parades, barbecue parties, concerts, leisure tours, sporting events, and waving of the iconic maple leaf flag wearing red and white. Traffic is especially heavy during the celebration and there are few road closures to cater parades. These activities can surely be enjoyed alongside a reliable mode of transportation. A compact type of vehicle such as an electric bike will be a good option to explore. Canadians have been embracing e-bikes over the past few years due to its superior convenience over other vehicles. CLOUD eBikes are here to give you an idea how you can celebrate Canada Day with your newest partner on the road.

Why Celebrate with E-bikes?

Canada Day commemorates the history, achievements, and culture of the country. It is also the time to show off their country’s pride and joy. Every town has ways to celebrate this national holiday. You can now visit as many towns as you can think of with an e-bike. Here are some of the reasons why you should celebrate with e-bikes:

Hassle-free exploration

As e-bikes are known to be an easy and convenient mode of transportation, exploring Canada’s historical places and natural landscapes with friends, family, or fellow bike enthusiasts discovers new destinations and hidden gems.

Reduce carbon footprint

Choosing e-bikes for exploration or social gatherings on Canada day lessen carbon emissions in the atmosphere, helping the country in its sustainability efforts.

Active Lifestyle

Canadians choosing e-bikes makes their lifestyle active thus improving their physical health and overall wellness, which also includes handling stress and mental health. What else is a better way to celebrate Canada day than with a healthier mind and body.

Practical Choice

Enjoy Canada Day with an electric bike that offers the practicality of a regular bike and MORE! Travelling around (or out) of the town with an e-bike can be really helpful. There will be less strain on your legs and you will have enough energy to appreciate the sights Canada has to offer. You can even join the parade with your e-bike and finding a parking spot would not be much of a hassle as it is with cars. Lastly, gas prices would not affect you in any way during the whole celebration.

Social Activity for Family and Friends

With e-bike, friends and family can support community rides or charity events on Canada day. E-biking has the ability to bridge the gap between generations, the pedal assist system allows grandparents to have the same pace with their grandchildren making the bond stronger as it shows teamwork and cooperation.

How to Make the Most out of Canada Day with an E-bike?

Here are some tips to fully enjoy the day and create a memorable experience:

Plan the Best and Alternative Routes

Canada Day is usually celebrated with parades, so you may encounter road closures. To optimize your battery and maximize the fun, plan routes A and B ahead of time, check the weather, and the type of road. This makes you proactive, which will be helpful for you in the long run.

Observe Traffic Rules and Regulations

Abiding to traffic rules is significant to all road users as it promotes peace and order on the road, while serving its purpose as a warning, regulatory, and informatory. You may want to check out our article: "Canada’s Rules and Regulations for Electric Bikes"
