Go to the shopElectric cargo bikes have always been big and bulky. The thick frames, racks and large batteries make it difficult for smaller guys to maneuver these bikes, turning them into an unpopular choice. Himiway’s electric cargo bike is one of the few which has a clever solution to make these muscle bikes accessible for people of all heights. The Big Dog Electric Cargo Bike has everything we love about Himiway but with extra power and strength to pull all kinds of loads.
The most important reason you should buy the Big Dog Electric Cargo Bike is the large weight it can pull.
The Big Dog has a reliable 500 W motor, which produces 86 Nm of torque. This is a rear hub driven motor and is placed below the rear rack, providing instant torque where most of your load will be. The motor is redesigned to dissipate heat better and offer better power management on longer rides.
Big Dog has one of the most practically functional frame designs.
The Big Dog has a 48 V 20 Ah battery, which is a step up from the usual 17.5 Ah batteries. This cargo e-bike can push up to 80 miles on a single charge, while providing juice to the bright front and rear lights for night-time riding.
The Big Dog has two rear multifunctional racks that are much larger than the standard rack. The rear rack can easily hold heavy boxes, luggage, or a pet basket. There’s still plenty of space between the seat post and rear rack for smaller bags, electronics or a repair kit and air pump.
The big dog comes with 20” x 4” wheels without spokes to handle all the weight.
The riding experience doesn’t get better with the Shimano Altus derailleur and a 7-speed gearing system. The bike features hydraulic Tektro brakes, similar to the previous himiway models.
In terms of speed, you can go up to 25 mph depending on the pavement, and the front fork has a preload adjustment with a lockout to handle different bumps and terrain. There’s stitched leather on the handlebars and a half-throttle that twists to provide output from the motor. You can ride this bike with just the pedal assist settings or use the half-throttle to cruise effortlessly with your cargo.
Overall, this is a bike that is meant to last for years to come with its large battery and comfortable ride. You won’t have trouble with parts breaking down or wearing out from the off road terrain, as there’s tiny details like the bolt on derailleur guard and wide mudguards to stop most of the mud and dirt from reaching the moving parts. This is a great investment for years of enjoyable riding and it can double down to offer work utility.
